The Sweltering Sangria Half Marathon & 5K is race 2 of 3 from our Wine Trail Race Series.
This is not a trail race. The entire course is on roadway. The name “Wine Trail” comes from the well known Southern Illinois Wine Trail similar to Kentucky’s Bourbon Trail.

Yes, we know it is hot in July. But, we also know Sangria’s will get you past the heat!

Custom finisher’s race medal for the first 150 participants. Participate in all three Wine Trail Race Series events to collect all 3 medals, which go together to form one bigger medal that doubles as a coaster!
Compete in all 3 and you also receive a Wine Trail Race Series hoodie after the November 6th event.
Deadlines:
Shirt order deadline guarantee will be July 5th at 5:00 pm. No extra shirts will be ordered. If you are not registered by this date, you will not receive a shirt.
Deadline guarantee to have name printed on race bib will be July 5th at 5:00 pm. Entries after this date will receive a standard non customized race bib.

Everyone receives a custom finisher’s medal
Those who are 21 and over and win their age group will receive a bottle of StarView wine
5K Run Awards – 12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over
5K Walk Awards – 12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over
Half Marathon Awards – 12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over
There is a $100 purse for the 1st place male and female for the Half Marathon
There is not currently a cutoff time on the course
Aid Stations:
Due to the time of year, we will have multiple aid stations along the Half Marathon course and one at the 5K turnaround. These aid stations will offer plenty of cold hydration needs!
1. At the 1.55 Mile Mark (also the 5K turn around point)
2. Approx. 5.8 Mile Mark
3. Approx. 7.2 Mile Mark (this is at Blue Sky Winery entrance)
4. Approx. 10.4 Mile Mark
5. Approx. 12 Mile Mark
There will be golf carts out on the course bringing wet towels and any other assistance needed. This is sponsored by the Illinois National Guard.
Policies:
Please read carefully before registering for the Half Marathon.
- No refunds or transfers.
- Participants unable to pick up their own race packet may have someone else pick up their packet for them as long as their individual waiver has been signed.
Cancellation Policy:
Entry fees are non-refundable; race numbers and entries cannot be transferred to another year or person. No exceptions. This means once we have received your entry, you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate, or if the event is cancelled because of weather.
